1. The Simon Commission was a commission was composed entirely of British members with not a single Indian member being included in it. This was seen as an insult to Indians who were right in saying that their destiny could not be determined by a handful of British people. 2. The Simon Commission was appointed in India in 1928. This commission consisted of seven members and its Chairman was Sir John Simon. 3. The objective of the Commission was to look into the functioning of the constitutional system in India and suggest some constitutional changes. 4. But nationalists in India opposed the Commission because it had no Indian member. 5.The Congress and the Muslim League jointly demonstrated against it. 6. When the Simon Commission arrived in India, it was greeted with the slogan “Go Back Simon”.
