Electrolytic Decomposition: Reactions in which compounds decompose into simpler compounds because of passage of electricity, are known as ELECTROLYTIC DECOMPOSITION. This is also known as ELECTROLYSIS.
Example: When electric current is passed through water, it decomposes to give oxygen and hydrogen.
