The difference between threshing and winnowing is -:
(1) Threshing is the process that is used to separate the grain from stalks. Winnowing is the process of separating dust particles with the help of wind. (2) Threshing is done manually using a stick or by using animals or by threshing machines. Winnowing is done by using soop. (3) In threshing harvested stalks are thrashed or beaten on a hard surface, this helps in separating the grains. In winnowing, farmers drop the mixture of grains and husk from a height. The husk is carried by the wind and form a heap at a small distance away. The grains being heavier fall vertically to form a separate heap near the platform for winnowing.
