In Kerala the Lungi, locally known as Kaili or Kalli Mundu, worn by both men and women. The men wear Mundu with a matching deep red/maroon shirt or kurta. The women of Kerala wear traditional costume called Mundum Neriyathum. The mundu is the lower garment and neriyathu is the upper one worn over a jacket or a blouse.
