What were some of the weapons used by Babur during his wars?
1. Babur, the first Mughal emperor (1526- 1530), succeeded to the throne of Ferghana in 1494 when he was only 12 years old. He was forced to leave his ancestral throne due to the invasion of another Mongol group, the Uzbegs. 2. After years of wandering he seized Kabul in 1504. In 1526 he defeated the Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi, at Panipat and captured Delhi and Agra. The following year in 1527, he defeated Rana Sanga, Rajput rulers and allies at Khanua. Subsequently, in 1528, he also defeated the Rajputs at Chanderi and established control over Agra and Delhi before his death.
3. Cannons and fire arms were an important addition in sixteenth-century warfare. Babur used them effectively in the first battle of Panipat.
4. In addition, gun powder technology was brought to India for warfare in the 14th century. Fire arms were used for the first time in regions such as Gujarat, Malwa and Deccan.
